[Bug 511001] Re: [i855] Lucid Freeze shortly after X startup (needs KMS blacklist?)
Okey, so I found what I was looking for, a way to revert the disabling
of all the 3d stuff (here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Bugs/Lucidi8xxFreezes)
These are the commands that do the trick:
echo options i915 modeset=1 | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf
sudo update-initramfs -u
The stability issues don't seem to apply for my graphics chip:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
