[Bug 581071] [NEW] X desktop crashes when using kile

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: kile

On Ubuntu Karmic (Gnome desktop) with some KDE apps, running kile and
clicking the "Settings menu" may crash X. (The whole desktop GUI is gone
and user is greeted with a login screen.) On my machine this scenario
occurs after some hours of working with kile.

The .xsession-errors.old file (after new login, find this file in the
attachment) indicates issues with NSPlugin Wrapper:

*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPClass::Invalidate() wait for reply: Connection reset by peer
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** WARNING:(/build/buildd/nspluginwrapper-1.2.2/src/npw-wrapper.c:1854):invoke_NPP_Destroy: assertion failed: (rpc_method_invoke_possible(plugin->connection))
*** NSPlugin Wrapper *** ERROR: NPObject 0x7f18588a4980 is no longer valid!

(npviewer.bin:28547): Gdk-WARNING **: XID collision, trouble ahead

The most recent error related to kile in .xsession-errors.old is:

Warnung der Fensterverwaltung: Ungültiges WM_TRANSIENT_FOR-Fenster 0x5600004 festgelegt für 0x5600038 (kile).
Warnung der Fensterverwaltung: Ungültiges WM_TRANSIENT_FOR-Fenster 0x5600004 festgelegt für 0x5600f5c (Open Proje).

This translates as:

Window manager warning: Invalid WM_TRANSIENT_FOR window 0x5600004
specified for 0x5600038 (kile).
