looking at /var/log/Xorg.0.log
the end of the file seems to indicate a loop as it outputs the data stream about the Dell 19" monitor 8 times then just dies with no log ends message.
In the /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old it is output 9 times but there is a log ends message.
