[Bug 577508] Re: gui crashes after screensaver changed (lucid)
I am affected by the same bug, with white stripes on the upper half of
the screen on a black background flashing a few times, and then
darkness. It is happening to me about once a day.
The last few lines from /var/log/messages are:

May 24 16:03:12 sif kernel: Kernel logging (proc) stopped.
May 24 16:03:12 sif rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd" swVersion="4.2.0" x-pid="514" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com"] exiting on signal 15.
