[Bug 577107] Re: Mouse is lost on X because driver resync
apport information
** Tags added: apport-collected
** Description changed:
Sometimes mouse is lost on X. I mean mouse cursor is there and I can
move it but buttons got misconfigured/unconfigured. I suffer from this
problem since kernel 2.6.8 at least.
I never found a reason and the only way to recover it is to switch
terminal and restart gdm.
Now I have some logs...
May 7 18:36:19 azul-laptop kernel: [ 1310.314801] psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
May 7 18:36:19 azul-laptop kernel: [ 1310.315859] psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost sync at byte 1
May 7 18:36:19 azul-laptop kernel: [ 1310.656540] psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 - driver resynched.
From X server log:

(--) AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint: touchpad found
(II) config/hal: Adding input device Macintosh mouse button emulation
(**) Macintosh mouse button emulation: always reports core events
(**) Macintosh mouse button emulation: Device: "/dev/input/event2"
(II) Macintosh mouse button emulation: Found 3 mouse buttons
(II) Macintosh mouse button emulation: Found x and y relative axes
(II) Macintosh mouse button emulation: Configuring as mouse
:
But I really don't have a Macintosh mouse so it will never work!
I really have AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint... After the driver problem I cannot click on anything with left button.
It happens since long time ago until karmic... Maybe even later...
