[Bug 589064] Re: [xorg-edgers] Wrong dependencies in the package xserver-xorg
Hi Bryce,
I wonder are those files you mentioned really needed.
This is a simple dependency problem in xorg crack pushers PPA, not in lucid official repositories.
In the X Crack PPA,
package xserver-xorg (1:7.5+6ubuntu1) was built without renewed dependencies.
The drivers (xserver-xorg-video-* and xserver-xorg-input-*) built to work with new xserver 1.8.2 (2:1.8.1.901) provide different virtual packages. I have described this above.
I did a simple workaround (sort of) by
installing a video driver xserver-xorg-video-v4l (1:0.2.0-4), which provides xserver-xorg-video-6
and an input driver xserver-xorg-input-void (1:1.3.0-1), which provides xserver-xorg-input-7.
Now I can completely remove the packages
xserver-xorg-video-all (+ all unnnecessary video drivers)
xserver-xorg-input-all (+ all unnnecessary input drivers).
