Works fine when reloading radeon with radeon.agpmode=-1:

/etc/init.d/gdm stop             
echo 0 > /sys/class/vtconsole/vtcon1/bind
rmmod radeon 
modprobe radeon agpmode=-1  
/etc/init.d/gdm start
