[Bug 570433] Re: [RV380] Garbage playing Videos with UMS, Textured Video Fullscreen
The problem is not only with Totem. Once it starts occuring, it seems to
happen with all applications using XVideo/Textured video and when
resizing to large size or fullscreen. One effect is that video image is
rendered on a tiled pattern, separated by thin lines. The effect can get
worse and videos become completely unviewable, looking almost like some
kind of ASCII art video playback in fullscreen. It seems to be something
that's leaking, since it typically only happens after applications have
initialized/used Xvideo a number of times. A suspend/resume cycle or X
restart fixes the problem for some time .. Once it starts happening,
it's always there, and nothing else seems to help.
Tested with latest radeon DDX driver git snapshot (as of June 13), no
improvements over the driver that is currently shipped in Lucid.
I'm attaching a screenshot showing the "tiled" corruption that occurs.
It's rather easy to reproduce, but triggering it might be dependent on
certain source video image dimensions (not sure).
