[Bug 602464] [NEW] nvidia lucid problems
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
hi,
i tried Lucid lynx x64 on a thinkpad T410.
the display worked well while using the default installation.
but when nvidia drivers following packages were installed (nvidia-173-modaliases, nvidia-common) for the graphic card.
after this the following problems were noticed:
- dimming of display did not work anymore
- display would shift between highest and lowest brightness
after de-installing the above packages it left the xorg.conf with nvidia as the driver which rendered the laptop with a black display completely dead.
this problem can be easily solved by booting with a liveCD and renaming the offending /etc/X11/xorg.conf to something else but less tech user will probably fail here.
hope you get to fix this problems,
thanks,
Nicolas
