[Bug 194783] [NEW] Garbled X display due to incorrect H/W detection.

On reaching the Hardy apha 5 desktop, I found the display was jarred by
some kind of 3 tier effect. I've attached a mockup.

The resolutions available in the Display Properties are 800x600 and
640x480. Changing between these resolutions does not help the jarred on-
screen effect.

 My LCD laptop screen actually has a res of 1400x1050.

I attempted copying my xorg.conf from the gutsy install, which had the
correct resolution. That fixed the jarred effect but I'm still can't get
above 800x600 dpi.
