Message #82360
[Bug 548886] Re: KDE won't start with fglrx drivers in Lucid
I'm seeing the same symptoms - from the KDM menu, I choose KDE, enter my
password, click login. I see the KDE harddisk icon appear briefly (the
first icon in the bar that usually shows ~4 icons serially fade in),
then the screens go black for a second, and kick me back to the KDM
login prompt. I'm not sure what log to look in, I don't see any errors
in the usual suspects in /var/log/
My graphics hardware is NVIDIA NVS290 (GeForce).
This sucks, I can't get into KDE. Gnome works (but I want KDE). I'm
not sure how I can recommend kubuntu to friends/family if everytime I do
an upgrade it doesn't work! (which has been the experience the last two
upgrades now).
