Message #82707
[Bug 574069] Re: [Lucid] Loading nvidia-settings hurts compiz performance
To those unhappy: You agreed to install proprietary drivers on your
computer, and Ubuntu can do very little about what they give us. Reason:
You call them "great" drivers. 80 percent of the code is cross platform
and if it weren't they probably wouldn't give you anything at all. Use
the Nouveau drivers. Those are supported drivers.
Excuse the deviation but this is not a forum to post unhappy messages.
Try the workarounds, try newer drivers/kernels/xorgs (but only if you
know what you're doing), try as much of a "fix" as is possible with this
blob, and then post on here. Nvidia may be the only one with decent
performance but they are still poor with their support. We cannot do
anything at all besides find a version that they fixed for us.
This is what was agreed to when you clicked the "enable" button in
jockey.
