buurin from FedoraForum posted an alternative way to introduce the
missing quirks: nail this in your /etc/modprobe.d/local.conf.

options usbhid quirks=0x0eef:0x0001:0x0040

The effect is the same.

BTW, do the eGalax calibration utility work with evdev? I'd be very
(positively) surprised if it worked ;).
