[Bug 411354] [NEW] Keyboard "locks up" all the time.
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Using ubuntu jaunty jackalope on an amd64 platform.
I moved to Japan awhile back and recently got around to getting the
missing parts to get my desktop back up and running. In the process I
had to buy new keyboard and mouse among other things, and everything is
working great, except for one thing.
Firstly the keyboard is a Japanese layout keyboard, but it's a cheap
variant (in the $10 range) and it's sort of noname, so I couldn't find a
good match in the settings (Japanese 106-key layout doesn't seem to be
"it"). And since I still want to be able to write in Swedish, I actually
prefer keeping the Swedish-by-default layout, and using setxkbmap jp
whenever I need odd-ball keys like |.
In any case, the keyboard keeps locking up in a very odd way. The
regular keys (any input keys such as a-z, ",", "?", etc) don't register
when I try to write in a text input field (e.g. a terminal). However, I
can alt-tab and similar. The easiest "fix" to get input working is to
alt-tab to another window, then immediately alt-tabbing back and it
usually works fine.
