[Bug 570879] Re: OpenGL graphic errors in google earth

I wanted to add the information, that the bug is closed in freedesktop
bugtracker as "NotOurBug" - that's why i changed it to "linux (Ubuntu)"
(kernel).

I just confirmed that this is probably a kernel bug:
Adding "nomodeset" to the kernel command line is all it takes to make google earth work like a charm: http://i38.tinypic.com/2v0k1hd.png

There are so far no bad side effects with "nomodeset" for me. The
opposite is the case: as a positive side-effect I can now resize firefox
windows with the compiz resize plugin configured to "Normal" (show
window content during resize) without the borders constantly flickering
- which used to be a minor issue: lp 454218
