[Bug 584369] [NEW] complete system lockup in multiple applications

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Similar to 503867 but this regularly happens in most other applications
i use (OO, software update, chronium, thunderbird, etc ...) does not
seem to be application specific at all.

complete system lockup usually after several minutes, sometimes an hour
of usage. Did not happen before upgrade to Lucid ... happens regularly
since ... looks like maybe X gets too tightly linked to the kernel ...
can't do ALT-CNTL-F<1-7> to get it back. I have not seen the problem in
the virtual consoles (ALT-CNTL-F1, etc)... has happened in most
applications i use regularly under the KDE interface by now.

Acts like a kernel panic except there is no output - have to turn off
the power to get it back.
