Sorry to be a pain but still no joy:
Executed xmodmap -pp > ~/xmodmap (which came straight back to the command prompt). However it did not appear to output a file to my home folder (/home/stuart)
Executing the second command gave an error- please see below for a screen dump:
root@stuart-laptop:/home/stuart# xmodmap -pp > ~/xmodmap
root@stuart-laptop:/home/stuart# sudo evtest /dev/input/event8 > ~/evtest
sudo: evtest: command not found
root@stuart-laptop:/home/stuart#
I did manage to find some documentation on what xmodmap did and managed to get the following on screen;
root@stuart-laptop:/home/stuart# xmodmap -pp
There are 12 pointer buttons defined.

If you can advise on the evtest I can have another go - Do I need to
install the command because I am using an NBR?
