[Bug 625239] Re: X starts on wrong tty: pressing enter after 5 minutes crashes X

Steve: I've always modified /etc/grub/default in the past, as suggested here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Grub2#grub (/etc/default/grub)

...and in `cat /etc/grub.d/README`:
All executable files in this directory are processed in shell expansion order.
  00_*: Reserved for 00_header.
  10_*: Native boot entries.
  20_*: Third party apps (e.g. memtest86+).
The number namespace in-between is configurable by system installer and/or
administrator. For example, you can add an entry to boot another OS as
01_otheros, 11_otheros, etc, depending on the position you want it to occupy in
the menu; and then adjust the default setting via /etc/default/grub.

I know I've modified /etc/grub/default and run update-grub a few times
on this particular laptop as well--just not sure what happened or what I
did to make it disappear :P

I'm curious, is it safe to simply reinstall plymouth, upstart and grub-
pc from Synaptic, just to get me back to the defaults? I would assume
so, but those are critical packages that I'm a bit nervous about ;-)
