[Bug 625239] Re: X starts on wrong tty: pressing enter after 5 minutes crashes X

maybe some good news:

http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/packages/show/216647

in the past few hours we have had some fixing about apt too, so there is
some hope about better conf.

i've made some more tweaks: purging/reinstalling gdm plymouth jockey
apt-xapian and updating packages ( my issues are only with maverick) .
The mountall package seem to be related with our problem (see the
comments in the above link).

On my end, the situation seem to be better since the latest apt &
mountall upgrades: after this install i've rebooted, logged only 1 time
as it might, no crash, so i'm waiting to see what happen now before
commenting again.

to John, from # 64:
*** @Dino:
Xorg.0.log looks to me like a Enter key crash on VT1, but when you booted without the splash or quiet parameters. I assume you didn't see a splash screen that time (plymouth would still run, I believe). Good confirming log. ****

you are right, it was only a gdm fallback asking to log again, no more.
