[Bug 612742] Re: primary monitor on nvidia dualhead setup won't wake afer sleep.

I have quite the same problem, but with some differences.

I run a fresh 10.10 install, fully up to date, with a GeForce Ti4800 and
the nvidia proprietary driver (version 92 if I remember, automatically
installed). I have only one LCD with VGA input.

After the machine is put to sleep and then awaken, the screen turns on
(green led on, it receives signal) but the display stays black.

The keyboard on the machine seems unoperative. I cannot switch to tty1.
The capslock key does not turn on/off the capslock led.

I can ssh to the machine. A top cmd shows XOrg using 95-98% of the cpu
constantly. XOrg log ends with about 10 lines of

(WW) NVIDIA(0): WAIT (2, 6, 0x8000, 0x00001234, 0x0000abcd) (fake
numbers here, actual numbers vary in each line).

I tried to kill XOrg (sudo kill <xorg-pid>, but it doesn't kill it.

I tried to "shutdown -h now", and this worked.

My guts tell me it might be a kernel issue. XOrg CPU usage and the log
resembles an active loop waiting for some hardware related stuff.

A search on the log lines finds other bugs dealing with the same
symptoms after a user switch without logging off from the 1 user, and
then going back to the first user again. I believe it is possible that
XOrg is reinitializing itself in the same way in this case than what it
is doing when waking from sleep.
