[Bug 472366] [NEW] Touchpad clicks freeze system unless mouse plugged in
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
On my Acer TravelMate 3200, clicking with the Synaptics touchpad when no mouse is plugged in has the following effect:
When visual effects are enabled, the screen freezes completely. When visual effects are not enabled, I can still move the mouse, but movements are extremely jerky and I can't click anywhere; the keyboard does not work either. This happens regardless of whether I use the touchpad's "mouse" buttons or a tap click. When a USB mouse is attached, I can use the touchpad without a problem.
When the sytem has become unresponsive to mouse and keyboard inputs, SSHing into it is the only way to shut it down (short of holding down the power key until the power goes off).
I'm using Karmic 32-bit.
** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: Confirmed
