[Bug 656128] [NEW] Ubuntu 10.10 xserver failed to start with nvidia driver
You have been subscribed to a public bug:
I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 RC x64/x86 on Samsung R710 notebook.
After successful installation i run "Additional drivers" and it found
"recomended" nvidia driver. After installation it asks to reboot. And
after rebooting os could not starts. When i tried to start os in safe
xserver mode it reports that module 'nvidia' could not be found. I also
tried to install latest nvidia driver from their site but nothing
changed.
If i change driver from nvidia to nv in xorg.conf OS starts correctly but with free driver instead.
Also on another computer ATI driver works correctly.
