Hi Stefen, thanks for your time spend on this bug. 
I've upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 and installed package provided by you. Unfortunately after rebooting, my Bamboo is still not recognizable. I wonder if it's becaouse I have pae kernel?

2.6.35-22-generic-pae

modinfo wacom:
