[Bug 664503] Re: Foreground windows stay in focus when clicking on background window

** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log"
   https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/664503/+attachment/1704785/+files/Xorg.0.log

** Description changed:

- Hewlett Packard 4510s Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6570 @ 2.10GHz
- Intel Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller
- Linux version 2.6.35-22-generic (buildd@vernadsky) (gcc version 4.4.5 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.4.4-14ubuntu5) ) #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16 20:36:48 UTC 2010
- Distro: Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat
-
- Since upgrading to Maverick 10.10 a week ago, occasionally when I have a window open and in focus and click on the window behind, the window in front remains in the foreground as though it has an 'Always on top' setting enabled (which is never the case). The window in the background does respond as though it were now in focus, however the foreground window stays on top. This behaviour immediately stops if I a) click on maximise/minimise/restore/the frame of either window, b) hit Alt+TAB, c) click on either window's button in the window list along the bottom panel, or d) navigate to any other process or window.

I have managed to check the process list on Conky whilst this has happened but didn't see anything out of the ordinary (Xorg, firefox-bin, gnome-terminal, conky, bash jostling for space at under 5% CPU & mem usage). So far I have not been able to force the issue to occur; so far it just happens now and again apparently at random.

I am assuming that this is an issue with X but can't be sure - any
suggestions on what info could be captured would be most welcome! As per
the Wiki I have attached /var/log/Xorg.0.log, skipping
/sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state as it simply states 'no error
  state collected'.

Apologies if this bug has been filed before - I haven't found it amongst
reported bugs but that could just be a failing on the part of my search
  term-conjuring skills!
