Same problem here, I'm using a LATITUDE E6510, with intel core i5.
With 10.10, I have the "failed to get i915 symbols, graphics turbo disabled." message and then a blank screen.
However I  have a weird workaround for that : I noticed that when I plug an external screen on the VGA port of my  dock station, the display starts working perfectly.
When my laptop goes into sleep mode, I also have that blank screen sometimes, and plugging my external screen does the trick.
