#1: Thanks Pander.  The sudo rm -f /var/lib/xkb/* command worked.  But
the:

"This process can be triggered by gnome-keyboard-properties and friends
or at startup of the machine."

Does not, that's why I asked and filed a bug report ^_^ (unless I
misunderstood what you mean, for which I apologize).
