@Earl, it looks like the dmesg and other logs you've filed are from a
boot with the touchpad *working* (per the dmesg and udev logs) -- is
that correct?

Please also boot the machine cold (so that the touchpad doesn't work),
then promptly collect and post /var/log/dmesg and /var/log/udev here for
inspection.
