Re: Team Structure and Progress

Hello Fellow Youths [bare with my long message, please!],

My name is Ye Myat Kaung a.k.a JoeMaverickSett on irc.freenode.net.
Started using Ubuntu the day Lucid was released. Having using it as the
main OS for 2 months now. I recently joined the Youth, so as to gain
more knowledge/support from fellow youths/to know how they also came
about using Ubuntu.

So, as Zach stated, we will not be "getting off the
ground", if we don't cooperate among ourselves. For example, we could
all arrange our timings on IRC channel[but mostly some of us are 24/7
online] for times when one of us is off to college and studies so that
when new Youth users come along, we would/should provide support or
direct them anyway we can as well as, "Hi! My name is so-and-so,
welcome to the Ubuntu Youth Team Channel!!! Do you know about us/get
involved???" and recruit more Youth members.

Another point that I would like to point out is Ddorda's opinion, "What
i suggest to do, is first to have some kind of events, to find together
with more people ideas how to make this thing work. i'll tell now that
i think we should try to make some kind of working-together-project to
build something nice that will make more youth come to Ubuntu (games
for ex.). if not that, we can work to have documentation, or to try
getting stuff from canonical that being sent for Ubuntu's youth.. "

I believe that we should at least contribute or work hand-in-hand among
ourselves, and that wikis or documentations are a start,as I take it,
not all of us have learned any programming languages. [I also haven't
contributed yet, but I'll be starting with wikis and docs, and a little
of bug triaging after 19th of this month which is after submission of
one of my assignments from college.] As I believe Zach does a lot of
wiki stuff, I'm hoping that he can assist us,[won't you, Zach? :D]and in
the process we all could come to know each other more and have fun in
the process[It's all about contributing and having fun! :D]. And yes, I
think we should also ask Canonical for some docs or wikis for us, youths
to take care of, as we all have the experience of how a youth/teenagers
feel when they start using Ubuntu, so we could help in doing some wiki
or docs stuff.[This part might not really be the kick! But it's okie,
we all can discuss! :D]

Another thing is translation, Roman a.k.a BasicXP, stated that his
speciality is translation,so, some of us who is interested in
translation can get advise and the procedure on translation even
though your main language might not be Russian. [well it's all about
contributing!]

So, all in all, we should help each other, have fun, contribute as much
as you can, where you can, when you can and when you see the
opportunity. And as a member of this great,"not off the ground yet",
team, I'll be contributing more and as much as I can, as I've
promised up there.[btw, don't be too hard on me though! :P]

P.S. I'm really sorry for this long post, but that's the points I want
to agree and make a note of. Thanks for reading it! Hope we all can
brainstorm to "lift this team off the ground" on this mailing list or
on the IRC channel!
