actionparsnip proposed the following answer:
Try a reboot. If its still the same run:

sudo fuser -vki /var/lib/dpkg/lock;sudo dpkg --configure -a; sudo apt-
get update; sudo apt-get upgrade

You cannot have more than one app accessing the packages.
