Hey greg, easy on the caps-lock buddy ;) lol
Don't worry about it all being new and different. Hopefully Isak or ActionParsnip might be able to help you fix this but in the meantime i hope you enjoy using othe aspects of Ubuntu, it seems you do :) Here's a guide to help your transition from Windows

But i would sugggest that you install another, different linux as a dual-boot to your 9.04 for gaming and other things that might not be working in your 9.04 at the moment. Quite a few of us have a dual-boot between 2 different versions of linux. Often that could be one heavy linux distro such as Ubuntu for the full functionality it usually offers and then a much tinier distro for greater speed at certain tasks or just as a back-up option, or for pure interest and enjoyement. My neighbour found that some games ran a lot faster in a smaller distro although i think he was mainly trying Windows games in Wine which gets a thumbs down from me lol. Anyway he was using Wolvix of which i tend to prefer their old Hunter 1.1.0 version & then with the updates and some games added it can be great fun although i tend to get stuck in space invaders (XGalaga) on there. The Ubuntu notes on how to setup a dual-boot with Windows are pretty much the same as what you'd do to install any distro as part of a dual-boot alongside any other

DistroWatch is a popular place for comparing different distros with each other, just navigate from their page about Wolvix, or use that page to get to the Wolvix forums and download page. Wolvix only really needs about 2Gb to 'feel roomy' but 5Gb should give plenty of room for some decent linux games. Of course you could setup a dual-boot with a second Ubuntu, perhaps 8.04 or 8.10 - but then you wouldn't have so much fun exploring the differences between a large and a small distro ;) Also Wolvix is from the slackware family while Ubuntu is debian family so there should be huge and significant differences but it's amazing just how similar they are, particularly almost everything on the command-line that you've been using lately.

I hope this helps!
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
