Re: [Question #76508]: cannot run update manager

Question #76508 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/76508

    Status: Open => Answered

Steven Danna proposed the following answer:
Try the following:

1) Open a terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). This will open a terminal at which you can type commands.
2) Type the following command and press <Enter>:

sudo dpkg --configure -a

3) Enter your password when prompted and press <Enter>. Your password
will not appear on screen when you type so be sure to type carefully.

Once this command completes, a new command prompt will appear. Close
the terminal and try to run update manager again. If it doesn't work,
please copy and paste any new error messages you get at any point in the
process.
