Tom proposed the following answer:
Grrr lol. Ok the menu.lst looked good and we can make a few changes to
that just so you can see something positive having an effect and see
where i'm trying to go with all this. Can you open it again with "sudo"
-
sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst
just after the line "## ## End Default Options ##" add these lines
howmany=2
color cyan/blue white/blue
can you see where i copied them from the commented out section? I don't
really like that colour choice so i tend to leave it out but most people
seem to like blue and it definitely makes a noticeable change. Ok, so
save the file and spot the difference next time you reboot.
First tho back into synaptic and install support for reiserfs file-
systems. Search for and install (or reinstall) "reiserfsprogs".
Hopefully then the "Places" menu will show the openSUSE partitions.
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
