no changes i have seen after shutdowning and switch on the computer. when i switch on the computer  i t  shows as the following 
ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS,kernel-2.6.24-24-generic
ubuntu 8.04.3,LTS,kernel-2.6.24-24-generic(recovery mode)
ubuntu 8.04.3,LTS,kernel-2.6.24-22-generic
ubuntu 8.04.3,LTS,kernel-2.6.24-22-generic(recovery mode)
ubuntu 8.04.3,LTS,kernel-2.6.24-21-generic
ubuntu 8.04.3,LTS,kernel-2.6.24-21-generic(recovery mode)
ubuntu 8.04.3,LTS,kernel-2.6.24-19-generic
ubuntu 8.04.3,LTS,kernel-2.6.24-19-generic(recovery mode)
ubuntu 8.04.3,LTS,kernel-2.6.24-16-generic
ubuntu 8.04.3,LTS,kernel-2.6.24-16-generic(recovery mode
ubuntu 8.04.1,memtest86+

and i choose the first one and working in that.
where i can see the suse linux  ?
please say  what we are done.

and another thing

i want to say that 
after entering the two lines in the menu.lst (gedit window shows_)as u said already  i click to close then it asks to save it  i saved it and in the terminal  it shows
