[Question #75225]: Scrolling in Open Office not smooth is slow and overshoots desired stop point

Question #75225 on openoffice.org in ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+question/75225

Description changed to:
In Open Office, Scrolling with both touch pad and slide is not smooth
and precise. Motion in desired direction is slow and stepped rather
than continuous smooth, and is imprecise in that it overshoots the point
at which I want to stop. Reversing direction fails to stop the motion
until it reaches some point apparently indicated by the prior direction
of motion - and then steps back, again overshooting the mark. I can
only get to the point I want iteratively and with slow careful motion of
touchpad scroller or slide.

This issue is not present in Firefox.

My guess is this is a setting issue, but I cannot find it in
Tools/Options.

I use Ubuntu 9.04 and Open Office 3.0 on a Dell Inspiron 5100

Thank you for your assistance
Bob
