vijay is still having a problem:
yes.
when i type in the command line
cd /boot/grub
sudo gedit menu.lst

then it shows as
sudo unable to resolve host elcot laptop
(sudo) password for elcot (i typed password here)
 then the gedit window opens
and in that  i added that lines and then click on save button and close the window.and terminal also.

when i switch off and again switch on the computer the blue background appears(this is the first time  before that only black like black black board)  with the following

what can i do now ?
