Re: [Question #76618]: Download address book to Evolution e-mail

Question #76618 on yelp in ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yelp/+question/76618

Brian Gabelman posted a new comment:

Thanks!
I was able to export the address book from "EARTHLINK TOTAL ACCESS"
running under WIN2k to
a CSV file. Then I imported the CSV file to "EVOLUTION" running under
UBANTU LINUX as follows:
First, copy the CSV file to a convenient directory under UBANTU via a
jump drive.
Go to the "CONTACTS" tab in "EVOLUTION", and click on the "PERSONAL"
directory. Then click on
"FILE" on the top menu bar, then click "Import" to invoke the "Evolution
Import Assistant". Then
proceed thru the assistant, specifying the location of the CSV file.
This resulted in my address
book being populated with all my contacts.

What is interesting (and undocumented?) is that EVOLUTION seemed to know
that the CSV
file represented an addressbook and handled it fairly well (I only had
to delete a couple of
garbage entries).
