It is very possible, but not suggested.

I would suggest downloading the correct .deb from
http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/nvidia-glx-180 - Either x86 or AMD64,
they are at the bottom of the page. You should be able to import it into
Ubuntu and install it with gdebi (double clicking). Make sure you get
the dependencies as well if they are not already installed.
