If you're using  Ubuntu:
In the top panel click Applications, then choose Accessories and then Terminal. A window with a commaind line and blinking cursor should appear. Copy the proposed by actionparsnip line, paste it in the terminal and hit enter. You will be asked for your password and you'll see nothing while typing it, it's normal. An output will come in the terminal, you just copy it and paste in your answer here.

Do you see your hard drive with the other OS?
