Re: [Question #76830]: Why FireFox Doesn't Update itself in ubuntu???

Question #76830 on firefox-3.0 in ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox-3.0/+question/76830

actionparsnip proposed the following answer:
firefox 3.5 will never be an update in jaunty. It will only be an update
in karmic (released in october)

you can remove firefox 3.5 using:

sudo apt-get --purge remove firefox-3.5; sudo apt-get --purge
autoremove; sudo apt-get clean

firefox 3.5 IS on the official repo but is seen as a seperate app to
firefox 3.0.11. You CAN install 3.5 then make /usr/bin/firefox point to
the 3.5 binary to launch that instead of the 3.0.11 binary but that is
not part of the post-install.
