[Question #76863]: Performance in Ubuntu

New question #76863 on Ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/76863

Hi there,

Today morning I was trying to copy data from CD to my system. The Data was only of 250MB.
But It took 7-8 Minutes to copy the data. I dont think it should take such a long time to copy such less data.
I have 2GB RAM and 270 GB free space. Intel 2.6GHz Processor. I think something is wrong here.
Here are my Questions
1. Can anyone help me figure out what the problem is ?
2. I dont know if it is 64-bit Version or 32-bit Version. From where can I get this detail (If I am using 32-bit or 64-bit) ?
3. If it is 32-Bit version will it make any difference if I install 64-bit (I know it will even then askin) ?
4. And If I need to upgrade to 64-bit What do I do ?

Thanks
Jagdeep(Jaggi)
