Re: [Question #76866]: Cant Copy Files to external hard drive
Question #76866 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/76866
Status: Open => Needs information
Tom requested for more information:
A dual-boot system that allows you to choose between Windows and Ubuntu each tie you switch the machine on is a great way to give yourself time to get used to using Ubuntu at your own pace.

It's probably taken years to learn as much as you do about Windows and it will take a few weeks to get used to Ubuntu too.
On the top taskbar does the "Places" menu have many "Media" listed? The
"Places" menu should have
Home Folder, Desktop, Documents, Music, Pictures, Video, Network,
Connect to Server, Search for Files, Recent Documents
Does it have anything else on your machine? Please list anything else in
that menu. Also when you open your "Documents" folder is there a status
bar at the bottom of the window showing how much free space you have
left on your hard-drive? Something that might help you make Ubuntu look
a bit more like Windows would be to go up to the "View" menu (when you
have the "Documents" folder (or similar) open) tick "sidepane" and in
the pane at the side click on where it says "Places" there and change
that to "Tree". That should make it look a bit more like "Explorer"
now.
Also there's this guide to help you generally in the meantime, until you give me the info i've asked for, or someone else appears ;)

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)
