First of all. You don´t need AVG or any kind of anti virus. That´s one
of the Plusses in Linux.

If you plan to install Ubuntu as only OS, then the best option is to let
the installer create the partitions. If you use a dual boot system then
create about 4 GB swap. You won´t be needing more.

32 or 64 bit? If you have a 32 bit system, install the 32 bit version.
If you have a 64 bit, use the 64 version.
