fresh install on a Compaq Presario C700 laptop all seems well except for wireless
I'm sitting at a hotel which requires me to authenticate through a webpage

I can choose the SSID and sometimes it will load the authentication screen and actually get to the web, slow connection, 1 Mb/s so from the forums I learned to use "sudo iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M" but the connection never seems to get faster, in fact that's when the flakeyness seems to start, I typically have to reboot to get any external web page

reports using driver ath5k_pci on wlan0
