I agree with Mylo, ssh could be a nice solution
If you prefer the samba sharing (it has the added value to be used even from a windows pc) you could try the nautilus share add-on
pick a computer and in a terminal type:
sudo apt-get nautilus-share
and answer Y if it asks to install other packages
once you have installed it, right click on the folder you want to share and choose "sharing options"
on the second computer:
menu -> Places -> Network
Browse the network: you should see the first pc and its shared folders

just a note: there are many ways to share stuff between two linux pcs. if you like to learn look for: nfs, ftp
