Re: [Question #77443]: GRUB Error 18 - URGENT HELP PLEASE
Question #77443 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/77443
Tom proposed the following answer:
Ok? It's all gone quiet so here's what i'm proposing we do from the LiveCd use the installer icon in the top right-hand corner to install using this guide
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot
making sure that you use sdb rather than sda and use "Guided"
partitioning, which is the second option in the "Partitioning Section"
of the installer. "Manual" is normally the one i prefer but "Guided" is
good too. This installer should 'fix' the MBR to point at Ubuntu's
boot-loader on sdb which might completely solve the whole problem,
although normally i would expect to have to manually uninstall the Wubi
to finish everything off neatly.
So, copying all the data and perhaps settings from the Wubi install of Ubuntu inside Windows before removing the Wubi probably using this guide's part 4 to manually remove the Wubi
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/WubiGuide
and that should get sda back to the way it was so that Windows can boot properly too. This might need to be done from inside the new install of Ubuntu.
Good luck and regards from
Tom :)
