Thanks for the responses, I have had a look at my /dev folder and
changed a few permissions that were obviously wrong but it hasnt helped.
At this stage, I would like to be able to access my USB drive and copy
my data onto it so that i can do a clean install as I can see these
permissions being an issue in the future.
When I plug in the drive the system picks it up, but I am unable to
mount or access it. I dont get any error messages, just no response when
mounting.
