Also please let us know the crucial 3 specs of your machine; cpu speed,
ram size and amount of hard-drive space you're giving Ubuntu (although
this last one isn't relevant to the LiveCd session).
It might also be good to get a smaller lighter distro such as Wolvix Hunter 1.1.0 to see if that works any better as a LiveCd. If so then we might be able to use something from it to get Ubuntu working better.
