Well that all looks a lot higher spec than Ubuntu really needs at minimum so that's not the problem :( Are you using the 64bit version of Ubuntu? Perhaps trying the 32bit version might have more success? (or the other way around?) Also have you had chance to try any of the Boot Options yet? It could still be a hardware incompatibility issue so it might still be worth trying any of the Wolvix's as they are from the Slackware family where Ubuntu is Debian. Their Hunter Edition has the best hardware detection out of all of them. It might be worth testing Knoppix too, also as a LiveCd, this one is Mandriva family and has exceptionally good hardware detection and support.

I tend to find really cheap "write once" cds that you can only buy in packs of 10 (or more) tend to be better for this type of thing than the more expensive kinds of cds or dvds
