Message #05743
Re: [Question #77772]: While logged in as a user, I cannot install updates. Even though I know the root password and enter it when prompted the updater says it is incorrect. Ran into the same issue installing the flash player. I am an experience unix sys admin, and have run Fedora for some years. What's wrong here?
Question #77772 on Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/77772
Larry Jordan proposed the following answer:
True. Just switched from FC2 myself, and after research found that
Ubuntu disables root by default. They want you to use 'sudo' instead.
There IS a way to change this behavior, but I just stuck with it and got
used to 'sudo' with my user password. Works same from there.
