Question #77664 on linux-wlan-ng in ubuntu changed:
https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-wlan-ng/+question/77664

    Status: Open => Answered

Tormod Volden proposed the following answer:
Yes, the warning by itself it harmless, and does not concern the
firmware loading. The package will build on newer kernels as well. But
the source code shipped with the linux-wlan-ng package will not build
the _kernel module_ against the newest kernels (2.6.26 and later).

The option in the configuration script is correct, it should not build
the (kernel) driver when it makes the firmware package.

You should not need to "enable" it in Ubuntu 9.04, it should work out of
the box, otherwise please file a bug report. Which firmware do you have
built-in? Please attach the dmesg output.

Since Jaunty the prism2_usb kernel module is in the official upstream
kernel. Development is undergoing to use "proper" kernel mechanisms to
load firmware instead of the linux-wlan-ng tools.
